History of the Church

The Church of the Miracle of the Archangel Michael in the village of Stary Aydar was built between 1814 and 1819 on the site of earlier wooden churches, the first of which was mentioned as far back as 1692. In 1973, the parish was closed and the building was transferred to a state farm to be used as a warehouse. In 1989 it was returned to the faithful and renovated. In 2014–2015, the church was badly damaged by shelling, including its dome, exterior and interior finishes. The building has been fully restored: its structures were repaired and heating was installed for the first time.
