The Transfiguration Cathedral in Donetsk was founded in 1993 to replace a church destroyed by the Soviet authorities and consecrated in 2006. After 2014, the cathedral came under shelling that damaged its dome, façade, roof, and stained-glass windows. Restoration of the façades and dome was completed in 2024.
