The Holy Dormition Nikolo-Vasilievsky Monastery in the village of Nikolskoye unites the St. Basil Monastery for men and the St. Nicholas women’s Monastery. The stone Church of St. Basil the Great was built here in 1912, while the monastery complex itself was founded by Schema-Archimandrite Zosima (Sokur) in 1998. In 2022–2023, the monastery found itself on the front line and was heavily damaged: St. Basil’s Church burned down, the monks’ residence and workshops were destroyed, the Dormition Cathedral and chapel sustained severe damage. Restoration began after the front line moved away and continues with support from the Russian Orthodox Church.
